Amanda Seales: Whether speaking on race, sex, celebs, or even herself, Amanda Seales brings the intellectualism to talking’ sh%#! A Harlem resident, Caribbean-American, feminist, pop culture fanatic, with a master’s in African American studies from Columbia University she has built a global following for using humor, rooted in clever wit and blunt honesty, to create quality content across multiple platforms of web, television, and stage that provide social commentary and opinion leadership from the Black/female perspective. Starting as a child actress on Nickeolodeon’s first black sitcom My Brother & Me, funny has always been at the core of Amanda’s work. She later gained veteran status as a television personality appearing on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam(’02 & ’05), becoming a VJ on MTV2 (’03-‘5), and hosting a morning show, “Breakfast at Diva’s” at Sirius Satellite radio (’03-’07) before venturing into the comedy realm as a comedian on Vh1’s Best Week Ever (’07-’08 & ’11-’14) and with the one woman shows, Death of the Diva (’12), It’s Complicated (’13), & Mo’ Betta Wu (’14). Funny, fearless and electric, along with her own projects, she’s performed all over the city, opened for comedy great Paul Mooney, is a mainstay speaking/blogging on politics, pop culture, and everything in between for major outlets VH1, HLN, CNN, MTV, BET, AOL, Huffington Post, and hosts a monthly show “Smart, Funny, and Black” at The Stand Comedy Club in NYC.
